Handmade, venison chews for dogs ‐ only locally produced venison rawhide is used to produce The Lekkery Barkery rawhide treats
- Rawhide promotes healthy behaviour. Chewing is a natural way for dogs to cope with stress and boredom, and long‐lasting chewing releases endorphins to alleviate stress.
- Long‐lasting chews help develop strong jaw muscles.
- Venison is a novel protein – a good option for dogs that are allergic to proteins such as beef and chicken
A variety of South African antelope species mixed according to availability is used but include kudu, springbok, black wildebeest, eland, gemsbok, waterbuck, warthog, blesbok, red hartebeest, impala.
While rawhide is considered digestible, it is important to supervise the use of rawhide chews to ensure that your dog does not bite off pieces too large. It is also essential that the correct size chew is selected for your dog and to discard any pieces that could potentially cause blockages or choking.
Do not exceed 10% of your dog’s daily caloric intake with treats. Feed as a supplement and treat, not as a replacement of meals. Overfeeding of high protein treats can cause stomach upset. Always supervise pets when feeding treats and always provide fresh drinking water to aid digestion.
