Absolute Pets in partnership with Starlight Media, are excited to announce the seven lucky December winners of the StarPet competition.
Not only did they win their share of R22 500, including R17 000 in Absolute Pets shopping vouchers but R2500 was raised for the Husky Rescue KZN organisation.
The StarPet competition took a forced hiatus during Covid and returned with a bang in June this year.
Despite this, since its inception up until December 2022, it has raised R219,568 for animal organisations.
This competition is all about capturing the cutest, funniest, and most heart-warming moments with your beloved pets, on camera and entering them into a competition designed to support animal welfare. And the best part?
Every vote for any photo helps raise funds for an animal welfare organization chosen by the previous month’s winner.
Anyone can vote– just go to www.star-pet.co.za, click on Vote Now and select a cutie pie to vote for.
Voting can be done via SMS, SnapScan and Ozow (eft).
Here are your December StarPet Winners:
1st Prize: Blu, R4500 Absolute Pets voucher and R2 250 cash
Blu is a 2-year-old lacewing ringneck. She has a very mischievous spirit but can be sweet too. She enjoys waking up in the morning, opening her cage by herself and cuddling with her pet parent.
2nd Prize: Sparky, R3000 Absolute Pets voucher and R1500 cash
Sparky is a 5-year-old rescue cat that is living her best life and enjoys belly rubs and cuddles.
3rd Prize: Buster, R2000 Absolute Pets voucher and R1000 cash
Buster is a clever dog that enjoys learning new tricks and playing games with his pet parents.
Angel’s Choice winners
This month’s charity, Husky Rescue helped select this month’s Angel Choice winners.
1st Prize: Onyx, R2 000 Absolute Pets voucher and R1000 cash
Onyx’s pet parents describe the moment that they adopted him as “love at first sight.”
He is eleven months old and is extremely fluffy and gorgeous.
2nd Prize: Ripley, R1 500 Absolute Pets voucher and R750 cash
Ripley is a Psychiatric Service Dog (PSD) and is his pet parent’s guardian angel, protector, and best friend.
3rd Prize: Snowy, R1000 Absolute Pets voucher and R500 cash
Snowy is an adorable, very friendly husky dog who was rehomed in 2021, due to Covid. Snowy loves her walks along the beach and waits in anticipation every morning for her treats.
StarPick of the Month
Every month, the wonderful team at StarPet selects one StarPick of the month. Their StarPick for December was none other than Patton!
StarPick winner: Patton, R1 000 Absolute Pets voucher and R500 cash
Patton has a unique sense of giving love, he is a real cuddle bear and loves to give his pet parents hugs when they come home from work.
Choosing just one StarPick of the month is never easy, as all the pets entered into the competition are perfect. To ensure that nobody gets left out, all 24 StarPick runners-up will receive a shopping voucher that they can spend at Absolute Pets.

Voting start and end dates
Voting for the current month’s competition opens and closes on the first and last day of the current month. For example, votes for the January competition will open on 1 January 2024, and close on 31 January 2024.
