Each year, from 1 - 18 July, we honour the late Nelson Mandela’s legacy by raising funds for, and donating food to, animal welfare.
Last year, together with the kindness and support of our generous customers, we raised an incredible R251 516 for 30 local animal welfare organisations. We at Absolute Pets also matched this donation with an additional R91 000 worth of pet food for these organisations.
This year, in the spirit of Mandela Day, we aim to raise much-needed funds for 36 animal welfare organisations, as well as additional pet food donations. Now, more than ever, these organisations need as much support as they can get – so we invite you to help us help them!
How to help
We’ve made it as easy as possible to participate in this wonderful cause. Whether you are shopping in store or Online from 1 - 18 July, you can add as little as R10 to your purchase, and this will be donated to one of the 36 animal welfare organisations we are supporting. If you’d like to donate more, you can increase your donation in multiples of R10. We understand that times are tough at the moment, and not everyone is in a position to donate, in which case we’d appreciate spreading the word about our donation drive with friends and family.
How it works in store
We have put our stores into groups, and each group is raising funds for a different animal welfare organisation. The donations made at each group of stores will go to their chosen animal welfare organisation. When you are ready to pay for your purchase, simply ask the Pet Care Advisor in store to add a cash donation towards our Mandela Day donation drive. This will add R10 to your purchase, and if you wish to donate more, just let them know how much.
How it works Online
Our Online store is supporting the WOOF Project. If you are shopping Online, simply select the WOOF Project logo and add it to your cart. This will add R10 to your purchase. Once again, you can increase the amount you would like to donate by simply increasing the quantity when you add the WOOF Project logo to your cart.
Pet food donations from Absolute Pets
As soon as a single store reaches R1 000 in donations, Absolute Pets will match that in the form of a pet food donation to the value of R1 000. This will go to the animal welfare organisation which that store is supporting. Therefore, the more donations, the greater the chance of each store reaching R1 000, and each organisation receiving additional pet food donations!
Our Mandela Day donation drive gives these 36 organisations the opportunity to receive cash donations as well as food donations, and hopefully make a significant difference to the lives of the animals in their care.
